10 Little Things That Lead To A Healthier Me

Twittermoms and Tropicana Trop50 asked us to write about 10 little things that lead to a healthier you (you can read more about Tropicana and the campaign here)

Sometimes, in the hustle and bustle of the day, taking care of the kids, running my freelance writing business, and just general, everyday stuff, it can be almost 2pm before I remember to eat. There are days that I spend hours working on my writing, reasearch, and paper work, and don't realize that I have been sittiting for that long. As a mom, I want to be healthier. My kids are my main motiviation. I also want to be healthier for me. A healthier me, makes for a happier me!

1.)Excersise Daily. With 4 kids, finding a reason to get moving is easy. i try to take frequent breaks during the day and play with the kids.

2.)Drink plenty of water..flavored that is. I hate the taste of plain water. So, I drink flavored water. Wal-mart also has carbonated flavored water that I love, I have discovered that gets rid of my soda craving quickly.

3.)Measure Food. I purchased a one cup measuring cup to be used solely for that purpose. By measureing what I am eating I tend to eat less.

4.)Read the lables. Again, it is surprising that something low in calories may be high in fat. Since I started working on loosing weight I pay more attention to what I am eating.

4.)Adopt a positive mental attitude. I make it a point to find reasons to be happy. Smile when I am mad. Laugh when I want to cry.

5.)Eat locally grown produce whenever possible. There are so many recalls surrounding food now a days. By eating locally, I save money, eat better, and support the local economy

6.)Plant a flower garden. Nothing relieves stress faster then digging away in my garden. After a particularly stressfull day, I like to weed my garden and add new flowers.

7.)Go for a walk. Alone. Sometimes I need a few moments of silence. So, I take my iPod and go. Walking alone is a huge stress buster for me

8.)Do things for me. It is so easy to get caught up in taking care of everyone else, that I can forget about me. I make a point to do one thing a day just for me.

9.)Cook at home Vs going out. Not only does it save money. My family eats better too.

10.)Don't sweat the small stuff. At the end of the day, as long as the kids are happy and healthy, we have a roof over our heads, and food on the table, nothing else really matters in the grand scheme of things.
